Oman Desert Marathon, live.

Five stages through the Omani desert

The Oman Desert Marathon is a stage race in the desert of Oman, with a base camp at Bediya Green Homes and a finish by the Arabian Sea.

The 2027 event runs from 9 to 14 January. The 165 kilometre Classic is held in self-sufficiency over five stages, and stage one starts at 07:30 on 10 January at Al Wasil.

The stages measure 42, 32, 40, 30 and 21 kilometres. The fourth stage, on 13 January, is run at night, and the race finishes at the Arabian Sea on 14 January. Self-sufficiency means participants carry their own gear and food.

Not everyone has to commit to a week. On 10 January there are also single races of 21 km, 10 km and 5 km, all starting at 07:30, and the organiser also offers a 100 km hike. That makes the event open to friends and families travelling with a Classic participant.

The Classic suits people with experience of long days on sand and of carrying their own gear. Supporters can base themselves at Bediya Green Homes and meet participants at the finish by the sea.

On Livebib you can follow a participant live when that person chooses to share their own position from the phone they carry during the race. The dot on the map comes from the participant's phone, not from the organiser's timing, and the official results are published by the organiser.
