Media Maratón de Lima, live.

From the Plaza de Armas to the Parque de la Reserva

The KIA Media Maratón de Lima & 10K by Nike has two distances, a half marathon and a 10K, both from the Plaza de Armas de Lima to the Circuito Mágico del Agua in the Parque de la Reserva. The 117th edition was run on Sunday 23 August 2026. The organiser has not yet published the date of the next one.

The organiser traces the race back to 1909, when the field lined up beneath the San Martín monument and ran to the Plaza Independencia in Callao. World Athletics gave it a Heritage Plaque in 2024, and the organiser calls it the oldest half marathon in the world and the fifth oldest race of any kind. It describes the day as a popular celebration where the waltz mixes with sweat, a race that makes Lima's heart beat. Today it starts at the Plaza de Armas instead and finishes at the Circuito Mágico del Agua.

In 2026 runners gathered at the Plaza de Armas from 05:00. The 10K started at 06:00 and the half marathon (21.097 km) at 07:00. The half has a four-hour limit, which is also when the event closes, and both distances are marked with kilometre signs. Runners aged 13 to 17 can enter the 10K with their parents' authorisation, the half is for 18 and over, and there are categories for runners with a visual impairment and in racing wheelchairs. Peru Runners publishes the routes and drink stations ahead of each edition.

The rules let family and friends watch from the start and along the route, behind the barriers. On Livebib they can also follow one runner from anywhere. The runner shares a link, and whoever has it opens it in a browser, no app or account needed, to see the position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate for the Parque de la Reserva that updates as the race goes. If the signal drops among the buildings of the centre, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated.
