Mallorca 312 is the most prestigious closed-road cyclosportive in Europe. Three routes leave Playa de Muro together from half past six in the morning — 312, 225 and 167 kilometres — and a rider chooses between them at the split points depending on how the legs are going. The long one covers 5,050 metres of climbing across the UNESCO-listed Serra de Tramuntana: the Coll de Femenia, Sa Calobra, the Puig Major tunnel, Valldemossa and the long run back across the plain.
Closed roads mean big groups, big speeds and a day that can be decided by which wheel a rider is on when the Tramuntana starts.
