Three days of swim, bike and run in Tenby

Long Course Weekend Wales fills Tenby from Friday 2 to Sunday 4 July 2027 with a sea swim, a sportive and a running festival, raced one at a time or all three.

Set on the west coast of Wales in Pembrokeshire, the Long Course Weekend calls itself the biggest multisport festival in Europe, drawing over 11,000 athletes and 35,000 supporters from 56 nations. Since the first event in 2010, more than 20,000 athletes have taken on LCW Wales.

Friday evening starts with the Wales Swim off North Beach in Tenby, 1.2 miles in one lap or 2.4 miles in two, starting from the north side of Goscar Rock. Saturday is the Wales Sportive, with 20, 40, 80 or 112 mile courses in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, starting and finishing in Tenby. TT bikes are allowed but drafting is not. Sunday brings the Wales Marathon, the Wales Half Marathon, the Wales 10K and the Wales 5K, all finishing back in Tenby on the red carpet.

Mix and match the distances that suit you, or go long in each for the coveted 4th medal: the 2.4 mile swim, the 112 mile ride and the 26.2 mile marathon over three days. The organiser notes that of last year's 1,000 Long Course Weekend athletes, only about half crossed the final finish line. The organiser describes the format as suitable for athletes of all abilities and has a guide for first timers.

For supporters, the swim is the big moment: crowds gather on North Beach and athletes enter the water to a fireworks display. On Sunday, crowds wait at the finish in Tenby. Roads close for the bike and run, so check the road closure and parking information before you travel.

On Livebib you can follow an athlete live across the weekend when they choose to share their own position from the phone they carry. That position comes from the participant, not from the organiser's timing, and official results come from the organiser.
