Country to Capital Ultra, live.

Wendover to Little Venice along the canal

Country to Capital is a 43 mile ultra from Wendover in the Buckinghamshire countryside to Little Venice in central London, and it opens the ultra running season.

The 2027 race is on Saturday 9 January 2027. Registration opens at 07:00 at the Shoulder of Mutton pub on Pound Street in Wendover and the race starts at 08:45. The finish is at the Stowe Centre in London W2, near the Little Venice canal basin, and the cut-off is 11 hours. It is organised by Go Beyond Events and is the first race in their Grand Slam of four ultras.

The route mixes 11 miles of cross country trails, 12.1 miles of roads and paths and 20 miles of Grand Union Canal towpath, with 1,375 ft of ascent and 1,720 ft of descent. It is waymarked, but navigation is still required. Trail shoes are advised.

Five checkpoints serve water, snacks and Go Beyond's fruit cake, hot drinks wait at the finish, and every finisher gets a medal. Mandatory kit includes a charged phone, a power bank, water bottles, a survival blanket, a waterproof jacket, a whistle, a torch, a hat and gloves and a long sleeved base layer. One carry-on sized bag is taken to the finish, and participants must be over 18.

There is no parking at the pub. Trains from Marylebone usually reach Wendover just before 08:30, so those runners should arrive ready to run. The entry fee includes the organiser's own GPS tracker on the Geo Tracks app.

Livebib lets family and friends follow a participant live if that person chooses to share the position of the phone they carry. It is not the organiser's timing system, and official results always come from the organiser.
