Levanger Maraton, live.

Round the sound, with flags to follow

A community road race in Trøndelag that loops around Levangersundet from the athletics track in Levanger, with pacers carrying flags.

Levanger Maraton is run on Saturday 3 October 2026, with start and finish on the athletics track at Levanger Idrettspark. Despite the name, the longest race is a half marathon. The day has a timed 10 km at 11:20, the half marathon at 11:40, an untimed 10 km with an open start between 11:00 and 11:20, a four-runner relay alongside the half, and a children’s run of about 1 km at 10:30. Volunteers from the local community run it, Markabygda IL is the technical organiser, and the proceeds go to local sport.

The course is a loop around Levangersundet, with views over the fjord and Levanger town centre and, in the organiser’s words, longer flat stretches. The 10 km is one lap of the same course the half marathon runs. It is marked with a clear line all the way, there are drink stations staffed by volunteers along the whole route and medical cover along all of it. Pacers with flags run both distances, aiming for 1:30, 1:40, 1:50 and 2:00 on the half and 40, 45, 50 and 60 minutes on the 10 km. Every finisher receives a medal.

A loop around a sound puts the runner on the far shore for part of the race, out of sight of the arena. On Livebib the runner shares a link to their own broadcast, and family and friends open it in a browser, with no app and no account, to see the position on the course line, the distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes. If the phone loses signal, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated instead of freezing. The runner decides who gets the link.
