Fifty kilometres of the Jizera Mountains, sixty times

The Czech classic ski marathon, held in the Jizera Mountains since 1968 and a Ski Classics Monument, skied for the 60th time in 2027.

The ČEZ Jizerská 50 is skied on Sunday 14 February 2027 from the Bedřichov Ski Stadium, the organiser’s 60th edition. The organiser publishes the course as 50.6 km in classic technique. Elite women start at 08:00 and elite men with the first wave at 08:30. Waves two to eight follow about eight minutes apart until 09:26, placed by earlier results, with newcomers in the last wave. In Ski Classics it is Event 9 of the season and one of four Monument races, with Marcialonga, Vasaloppet and Birkebeinerrennet.

The course crosses rolling ridges, open plateaus and deep forest, and the organiser’s cut-off times describe its shape: Knajpa by 11:30, Jizerka by 13:30, Smědava by 14:15 and Hřebínek by 16:00, with the finish closing at 17:30. The race also carries a memory: the 15 Czech mountaineers who skied the 1970 edition and later died in the Huascarán landslide in Peru. The weekend around it includes shorter races, among them the Jizerská 25 and Jizerská 10, and the Friday heat sprint at the same stadium.
