Three laps between Calella and Pineda de Mar
A full-distance IRONMAN on the Maresme coast north of Barcelona, where the whole day stays within sight of the Mediterranean.
IRONMAN Calella-Barcelona is raced from the town of Calella, on the Barcelona-Maresme coast; the 2026 edition was on Sunday 4 October. The swim is a single 3.8 km lap in the sea that starts and finishes on Calella beach: out from the shore, a semicircle and back to the sand. Transition is on Camp de Mar, an artificial-grass football field right by the beach, and IRONMAN’s published water temperatures for the last three editions sit between 22 and 24 °C.
The bike is two loops along the coast from Calella to Badalona, 180.2 km with 750 metres of climbing. The marathon is three laps between Calella and Pineda de Mar, alternating beach and town sections, laid out by the organiser for more crowd and a faster surface; the finish line is on the beach. IRONMAN notes that the course has seen times under eight hours.
A full distance is a long day to wait through. With Livebib the athlete shares one link; family and friends open it in a browser, without an account or an app, and see where on the coast road or the run loop the athlete is, the distance covered and a finish estimate that updates through the day. On a three-lap run that matters: the distance tells you which lap you are watching, and if the phone loses signal for a while the position moves on along the course, marked as estimated instead of standing still.
