Finlandia-hiihto, live.

Finland's biggest mass ski event, in both styles

Finlandia-hiihto is a ski marathon weekend in Lahti on 20 and 21 February 2027, with classic races on Saturday and free technique races on Sunday over 62, 32 and 20 km.

The first Finlandia-hiihto was skied in 1974, on a route from Hämeenlinna to Lahti. Erik Pihkala, one of the leaders of Suomen Latu, was at the Marcialonga in Italy when he was asked why Finland had no race like Vasaloppet. The 2027 edition is the 54th, and the event calls itself the largest mass skiing event in Finland. The name FINSKI has been part of the logo since 2020, and Finski is also the event's polar bear mascot.

Saturday 20 February is the classic day. The 62 km starts in four groups at 09:00, 09:10, 09:20 and 09:30, with the competition groups in the first one and relay teams in the last. The 32 km starts at 10:45 and the 20 km at 11:15, together with a 20 km youth class for those aged 16 and under. Sunday 21 February repeats the same programme in free technique.

The courses run through the ridges of Salpausselkä around Lahti. Finlandia-hiihto is part of the Ski Classics Challengers, and the 62 km is the full ski marathon, while the 32 km and 20 km give a shorter day. In the relay, a team of three, or of two with one skier taking two legs, shares the 62 km, and in the team race the three fastest members of a team count on every distance.

The race centre is open from 07:30 to 18:30 on both days, and the finish closes at 17:30. The race centre is at the Lahti Fair Center, the start is at the Lahti stadium, and spectator areas at the Lahti Sports Center are marked on the organiser's venue map. On Saturday there is also a Kids Race at 11:30, so families can make a day of it.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry during the race. This is a separate service and not the organiser's timing. Official times and results come from Finlandia-hiihto.
