Egmond Halve Marathon, live.

Seven kilometres on the beach, then back through the dunes

The Egmond Halve Marathon, in its 52nd edition on Sunday 10 January 2027, is a winter half marathon over the beach and through the dunes of North Holland.

It is held every year on the second Sunday of January. The half marathon over 21.1 km starts on the Boulevard Noord in Egmond aan Zee and runs 7 km along the beach to Castricum aan Zee. From there it turns inland through the dunes of the Noordhollands Duinreservaat and back to the finish on the Boulevard Noord. The time limit is three hours.

The tide shapes the race. In 2027 low water is at 13:34 and high water at 18:00, so participants run on a rising tide. The organiser calls it one of the toughest half marathons in the Netherlands, with a stiff climb off the beach at Castricum aan Zee, and says the often harsh weather and the changing tide make every edition different.

The Kwart Marathon over 10.5 km finishes on the Zeeweg and is a good way to try the beach. The individual half marathon was already sold out when we checked, and there is a new Family Run. A combined ranking links the race with Egmond-Pier-Egmond. Start times will follow from the organiser, Le Champion.

The organiser recommends the start and finish on the Boulevard Noord and the passage at Castricum aan Zee for spectators, and the beach can be reached from both places. There is also a cheering zone at Camping Bakkum with a DJ, sandwiches and hot drinks between 12:00 and 15:00, best reached by bike. Dress warmly, since the North Sea wind is part of the day.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the Egmond Halve Marathon.
