Over the Stelvio through three countries

The Dreiländergiro is a road cycling marathon from Nauders on the Reschen Pass that crosses Austria, Italy and Switzerland and climbs the Stelvio Pass on both of its routes.

The 34th edition starts on 27 June 2027. Start and finish are in Nauders, a village on the Reschen Pass, and the day is the high point of a week of cycling in Nauders called the Girodays, with rides and side events from Tuesday.

There are two routes. Stelvio Vinschgau covers 120 km and 3,000 m of climbing. It leaves Austria over the Reschen Pass to Prad, climbs the 48 hairpins of the Stelvio Pass, crosses the Umbrail Pass into the Swiss Val Müstair and returns through the Vinschgau. Stelvio Engadin covers 168 km and 3,600 m and adds the Ofen Pass and the Engadin before the last climb of the Norbertshöhe back to Nauders. The Stelvio summit stands at 2,757 m.

The routes split in Santa Maria. Riders who cannot reach Santa Maria before 11.45 are sent onto the Stelvio Vinschgau route. Depending on the route, riders pass five or seven aid stations. The race is open to cyclists who have turned 18, and front and rear lights are compulsory for visibility in shaded forest sections and galleries.

At the finish in Nauders the day ends on the Festwiese, where the Dreiländergiro finisher jersey waits. On the Friday evening before the main day the week also brings the Nightrace, a pro criterium in the centre of the village, so the organiser says it is worth arriving a few days early.
