Twenty-nine neighbourhoods, one ruthless split
From Grant Park through the canyon streets to Mount Roosevelt: a flat, record-breaking loop where pacing is everything.
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is built for pure speed: a laser-flat loop winding through 29 distinct neighbourhoods. The course shoots north through Lincoln Park, cuts west through Greektown, and snakes south past the mariachi trumpets of Pilsen and the dragon dancers in Chinatown. The only incline on the entire 42.195 kilometres is the notorious "Mount Roosevelt" — an overpass at mile 26 where exhausted legs battle the final bridge before the hard left turn onto Columbus Drive.
On a course where Kelvin Kiptum set the historic 2:00:35 world record, even a few seconds of pacing drift changes the outcome. When downtown skyscrapers scramble mobile signals, Livebib keeps the race legible: live course positioning, kilometer splits, and dynamic arrival times show exactly whether your runner is building a negative split or grinding through the final miles back to Grant Park.
