100K

A hundred kilometres with 3,750 metres of climbing, and the second of the weekend’s two Golden Ticket races. The course drops straight into the canyons at first light, crosses El Dorado Creek and climbs to Michigan Bluff before the long, fast, exposed stretch through Foresthill toward the American River. Runners hit the heat of the day exactly where the canyons are deepest, which is what makes this a race decided in the last twenty kilometres rather than the first.

The limit is 20 hours, so the fastest are home in the afternoon and the last finishers come up Robie Point under lights.
