Antarctic Polar Race Marathon
The marathon is the championship race of the day. In 2026 it hosts the Antarctica Athletics Federation Championships, with continental titles for men and women, and the organiser describes the course as 8 loops of 5.275 km around Wolf's Fang, the number of loops subject to change.
Runners meet in Cape Town on 5 December, with the pre race briefing on 6 December and the Antarctic logistics briefing on 7 December, then fly about five and a half hours to Wolf's Fang. The organiser expects about minus 8 C on race day and asks runners to be ready for colder. Everyone flies back to Cape Town on 9 December.
