Antarctic Polar Race Half Marathon

Antarctic Polar Race Half Marathon

The half marathon is run on the same ground as the marathon, on loops around the base camp, for runners who want the Antarctic experience over the shorter distance. Every finisher gets an official medal.

Runners meet in Cape Town on 5 December, with the pre race briefing on 6 December and the Antarctic logistics briefing on 7 December, then fly about five and a half hours to Wolf's Fang. The organiser expects about minus 8 C on race day and asks runners to be ready for colder. Everyone flies back to Cape Town on 9 December.

This page covers the Antarctic Polar Race Half Marathon 2026. On Livebib, family and friends at home can follow a runner's position on the course, the distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes on. If the phone loses its signal, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated.
