Use the map
The map shows the course, where the runner is and what lies ahead. The buttons on the right move the camera.
What do the lines and dots mean?
- The green diamond: the runner.
- The bright green line: where the runner has been.
- The dashed green line: the course still ahead.
- A thin amber dashed line: the stretch from the last real position to an estimated one.
- Amber dots: the next checkpoints, with the expected time. Dark dots with ✓ are passed.
- A small hollow dot: a place on the course, like a summit, where nobody is timed.
- An ember-coloured pin: a place the runner added, like where their family stands.
- ▲: a summit. Tap it for its name and height.
The buttons on the map
- Overview: frame the whole course.
- Follow: the camera follows the runner. Move the map yourself and following stops; tap again to follow again.
- “Fly the course”: fly along the course before the runner has started.
- The compass: point north again. It only shows when the map is turned.
- “Hide updates”: hide the updates that drift over the map.
- Fullscreen: the map fills the screen.
2D, 3D and Elevation
The switch in the top corner changes the view: “2D” is the map, “3D” the course in the terrain, and “Elevation” the climbs and descents. The page remembers your choice for that broadcast. If there is only one view, there is no switch.
Where am I?
The person button shows your own position as a blue dot, only on your screen. It is never sent to us or shown to anyone. Handy when you stand along the course and wait.
Move and zoom
On a phone, use two fingers to move and zoom the map. On a computer, hold ⌘ or Ctrl and scroll to zoom. In fullscreen, one finger and plain scrolling work.
Why is the map dark?
It is night where the runner is. The map follows the light at the runner's position, and a finished race keeps the light it started in.
