The elevation view

“Elevation” shows the course from the side: every climb and descent, where the runner is on it, and what is left.

What do I see?

  • The ridge glows green up to the runner and is faint after.
  • Checkpoints along the ridge with expected times, and the highest point with its height.
  • “Goal plan”: an amber marker where the runner would be on their own plan. Ahead of it means ahead of plan.
  • “Cutoff pace”: where a runner exactly on the cutoffs would be.
  • ⏸: where the runner rested, and for how long.

Zoom and move

On a phone, pinch to zoom and swipe sideways to move. On a computer, pinch on the trackpad or hold Ctrl and scroll, and drag to move. The height scale stays the same, so a climb looks just as steep at any zoom.

Where do the heights come from?

From the course file the organiser published. If it has no heights, we fill them in from our own elevation data, which in some countries comes from laser scanning of the ground. Heights never come from a third-party service.

Why is there no Elevation view?

Swims and paddling have no climbs, so they have no Elevation view. It is also missing when the broadcast has no course.
