Along Lake Zurich to Meilen and back to Sechseläutenplatz

The Zürich Marathon is Switzerland's big spring city marathon, run from the Quaibrücke along the shore of Lake Zurich and back into the city.

The 2027 race is on Sunday 11 April 2027. There are three distances on one day, each with its own start time. The marathon starts at 08:00, the half marathon at 13:15 and the On Z10 over 10 km at 16:00. All three start at the Quaibrücke and finish at Sechseläutenplatz, by the lake in the centre of Zürich.

The marathon runs through the city and along the shore of Lake Zurich to the turnaround in Meilen, which has to be reached by 11:10. The time limit is 5:30 hours net, and the finish closes at 13:45. The half marathon covers 21.1 km along the lake, and the On Z10 is a fast course right through the city centre. All distances are officially measured, and the organiser notes that building work may still bring changes to the route.

The marathon and the half marathon are already sold out for 2027, while the On Z10 was still open when we checked. The organiser says the route through the city and along the lake motivates 70 percent of runners to a new personal best, and anyone who has finished the marathon ten times joins the Jubiläumsclub. The On Z10 through the city centre is billed as a course with ideal conditions for beginners and ambitious runners alike.

Spectators can see the runners at the Quaibrücke and the Sechseläutenplatz, which the field passes at the start, on the city loop and at the finish, and at Bürkliplatz and along the General-Guisan-Quai, where a speaker reports on the race as the runners come past several times. The staggered starts mean there is something to watch from morning to late afternoon.
