Two mountain ultras from Betws-y-Coed

The Yr Wyddfa Snowdon Ultra is a pair of mountain ultras in Snowdonia Eryri National Park, based in the village of Betws-y-Coed.

The 9th edition of the 50 mile race is on Saturday 4 September 2027, organised by GB Ultras, and the 100 mile race runs the same weekend. The 100 mile race starts at 06:00 and the 50 mile race at 06:15. Bib numbers can be collected on Friday 3 September from 17:30 to 21:00, and trackers and bibs on race morning from 04:15.

The 50 mile race measures 45 miles, with a 20 hour cut-off and 300 places. It follows the Snowdonia Slate Trail past Swallow Falls to the foot of the mountains, then mountain trails lead to the side of Tryfan, the summit of Yr Wyddfa, Glyder Fach and Glyder Fawr, Devil's Kitchen and Llyn Idwal, before the trails beside Llyn Crafnant and Llyn Geirionydd.

The 100 mile race measures 102 miles with 5,172 m of ascent, 11 checkpoints, a 42 hour cut-off and 175 places. It leaves Betws-y-Coed, the finish of the 50 mile race, for Beddgelert on the Snowdonia Slate Trail and goes through the Nant Gwynant valley past Sygun Copper Mine, Llyn Dinas and Llyn Gwynant.

Both are self navigation events and entry depends on meeting the qualifying criteria. Finishers earn UTMB and ITRA mountain points, and GB Ultras tracks every runner with its own GB Race Tracker.

On Livebib you can follow a participant live when they choose to share the position of the phone they carry. That position comes from the participant's own phone and is not the organiser's timing, so official results and splits come from the organiser.
