WVV Marathon Würzburg, live.

The 25th edition along the Main and through the city centre

The WVV Marathon Würzburg celebrates 25 years on Sunday 23 May 2027, with a marathon, a half marathon, a 10 km FunRun and a team relay starting and finishing at the Congress Centrum Würzburg.

The first gun fires at 09:00 on the Kranenkai for the MetaComp 10 km FunRun. Marathon, half marathon and relay teams follow in blocks from 09:10 to 09:25, sorted by expected finish time. The finish closes at 15:00, which gives marathon runners up to 5 hours 30 minutes. Children's and youth races take place a day earlier, on Saturday 22 May.

The marathon is two laps through the city centre past Würzburg's best known sights, and the half marathon is one large loop through the centre and along the Main. All courses are measured to German athletics federation rules, and the organiser notes that the marathon is one of the few races in Germany recognised for Boston Marathon qualification. Pacers run marathon times from 3:30 to 5:00 hours and half marathon times from 1:45 to 2:30 hours.

The relay is made for groups: up to six runners share the full marathon, and teams can change wherever they like, with suggested changeover points on the Dreikronenstraße between the Friedensbrücke and the Alte Mainbrücke, on the Ludwigkai and near the cathedral. The 10 km uses part of the marathon course and welcomes school pupils from age 10 with a family or team.

Race numbers and the expo are at the Congress Centrum on Saturday from 10:00 to 19:00, and the organiser recommends collecting them then rather than on race morning. Aid stations stand every 5 km with extra refreshment points in between, and the race number works as a ticket on WVV transport on race day.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the organiser.
