Volcano Marathon Easter Island, live.
Volcano Marathon on Easter Island on 27 June 2027: marathon and half marathon from Anakena Beach to Hanga Roa on mostly unpaved roads.
Rapa Nui (Easter Island) · June 27, 2027
A marathon across Rapa Nui
The Volcano Marathon is a marathon and half marathon on Easter Island, Rapa Nui, in the Pacific Ocean, organised by Runbuk.
The 2027 race is on 27 June, inside a programme that runs from 25 to 29 June. The full marathon is 42.195 kilometres and the event is a member of AIMS. A half marathon is held on the same day.
The marathon starts at Anakena Beach and finishes at the Nayara Hotel in Hanga Roa. Most of the course is on unpaved surfaces, with about 610 metres of climbing, and the high point comes at Rano Kau near mile 22. Expect a slower time than on a city marathon.
The race suits people who want a marathon somewhere far from home and are happy to plan a trip around it, since the island is remote and the programme spans several days. The half marathon gives travelling partners and friends a shorter option on the same day.
Supporters who travel to the island can meet participants at the finish in Hanga Roa. Check the organiser's itinerary for transfers and timings during the race week.
On Livebib you can follow a participant live when that person chooses to share their own position from the phone they carry during the race. The dot on the map comes from the participant's phone, not from the organiser's timing, and the official results are published by the organiser.
