Over the suspension bridge at Forsen

Three point-to-point trail races in Västerbotten that start in different places and all end the same way: across the river and over the suspension bridge to the finish in Vindeln.

Vindelälvsterrängen is run for the first time on Saturday 3 October 2026, organised by Tough Training Group Umeå as the successor to their Tvåälvsloppet. The 85 km ultra starts at 06:00 at Väven in central Umeå, the 26 km at 11:00 on Rödåheden by Krycklan, and the 13 km at 12:00 at Retro in Vindeln’s industrial area. All three finish at the Kvarnen area by the campsite and Hotell Forsen in Vindeln. Free buses take runners from the finish to each start in the morning.

The ultra is, in the organiser’s words, trails all the way from Umeå: the first 60 km follow Tavelsjöleden, paths through the Tavelsjö hills, Vännforsleden and roads through Rödåsel. The 26 km mostly follows Vindelforsarnas led, the restored trail along the rapids. Every course shares the last 4 km: from Vindeln church, mostly on gravel, over the bridge across the Vindelälven, past Västomån and Holmen, over the suspension bridge and a final kilometre downstream to the finish, running on both sides of the rapids.

Three starts and one finish make it hard for supporters to know where to stand. On Livebib the runner shares a link to their own broadcast, and family and friends open it in a browser, no app or account needed, to see the position on the course line, the distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes. On a long forest trail the phone will lose signal; the position is then carried forward along the course and marked as estimated instead of freezing. The runner decides who gets the link.
