A family running day on 1 May in Strandbjörket

Växjöloppet is a running event organised by IFK Växjö in Växjö, with its start and finish at Strandbjörket by Lake Växjösjön.

Växjöloppet is a running day for the whole family, held on 1 May every year by IFK Växjö in Växjö. The 2027 edition is the event's 60th anniversary, and the organiser describes it as a festival of running in Strandbjörket.

The 5 km, 10 km and 21.1 km all start on Värendsgatan outside Strandbjörkshallen. The first kilometre is on asphalt. The 10 km and 21.1 km then turn onto forest roads and paths through Bokhultet, a nature reserve of mostly broadleaf trees. The last stretch, about 3.5 km, is on asphalt around Lake Växjösjön, and all three distances finish along the Lagunvallen causeway, about 300 to 400 metres from the finish in Strandbjörket. The 5 km is almost entirely on asphalt, one lap of the lake. The 21.1 km covers two laps of nearly the same course, the first just over 11 km and the second 10 km. Water stations are along the way, mostly on the two longer distances.

The 5 km starts at 10:15 and the 10 km at 13:00, and the finish closes at 14:30. Lilla Växjöloppet has shorter races for children: Lagunmaran over 2 km, Lagunracet over 1 km, Knatteknatet over 500 metres and Tidningsloppet over 200 metres. The 5 km and 10 km can be run alone or as a team.

Anyone taking part can choose to share their own live position on Livebib from the phone they carry, so family and friends can follow from Strandbjörket or from home. This is not the organiser's timing, and official results come from the organiser.
