Trondheim Maraton, live.

Norway's oldest marathon, around the heart of Trondheim

Trondheim Maraton is Norway's oldest marathon, first run on 2 November 1969 and held every year since.

The 2027 race weekend is 4 to 5 September, the first weekend of the month as every year. The marathon began on 2 November 1969 as a student marathon with 12 finishers and has been held every year since. Today it is organised by Nidelv IL and Midt-Norge Sør Bedriftsidrettskrets, and 2025 was the biggest edition so far with 14,623 participants.

The full marathon is a measured, AIMS approved 42.195 km run as two laps of a set course, so participants pass the crowds and partner stations twice. Alongside it are the Brilliant Halvmaraton, the BDO-MILA over 10 km and the TrøndelagKraft 5ern over 5 km, plus team relays over the half and full marathon and races for children and young people.

The route runs around the city core of Trondheim on roads. The organiser has not yet published start times or the split of races between Saturday and Sunday for 2027, so check the programme before you travel.

Public health is the main focus, and the organiser wants the event to be for everyone, with running courses, talks and training sessions through the year. The course is laid around the city core so that both participants and spectators get to experience Trondheim, and the marathon field passes twice.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from Trondheim Maraton.
