From Bran Castle over the Bucegi

Transylvania 100 is a mountain trail race in Bran, Romania, where every distance starts or ends beneath Bran Castle and crosses the Bucegi range in a single lap.

The 12th edition starts on Saturday 29 May 2027, and the last finishers come in on Sunday 30 May before the prize giving. Bran lies about 30 km south west of Brașov and 150 km north west of Bucharest. Registration and kit pickup are on Friday 28 May from 14:00 to 21:00 at the Bran sports hall, five minutes on foot from the castle, and entries close on 1 May 2027.

The 100k is 103 km with 6444 m of climbing, starts at 5:00 and has a 31 hour limit, 13 checkpoints and 500 places. It opens with a climb of 1450 m in 9 km from Bran to Șaua Țigăneşti, then crosses Omu peak and drops to Bușteni and Piatra Arsă. The 80k, 82.5 km and 4910 m, also starts at 5:00 with a 25 hour limit.

The 50k covers 50.2 km and 3320 m from 7:00 in 15 hours, and the 30k, 30.1 km and 2365 m, starts at 9:00 as a sky running course with 12 hours. The 20k, 21.8 km and 1230 m, starts at 11:00 in Moieciu de Sus, reached by bus, and is the only distance with no experience needed. The longer ones ask for earlier trail races, from 20 km with 500 m for the 50k and 30k to 60 km with 2000 m for the 100k.

Expect single track, old forest, high plateaus and ridges, with luminous markers for the night. Spectators can wait at Bran Castle for the finish.
