The Three Peaks Race is a fell race over Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, starting and finishing in Horton-in-Ribblesdale.

The 72nd Three Peaks Race is on Saturday 24 April 2027 at 10:30 from the playing field in Horton-in-Ribblesdale, near Settle, its home since 1975. The first race was in 1954, with six starters and three finishers. For 2027, women over 40 and men over 60 can choose an early start at 10:15.

The course is 37.4 km (23.3 miles) with 1,609 m of ascent and descent. It climbs Pen-y-ghent at 694 m first, drops to High Birkwith and runs by road to Ribblehead, passes under the Settle to Carlisle railway and climbs straight up Whernside at 736 m. A rocky descent leads to the Hill Inn before Ingleborough at 723 m and the long descent through Sulber Nick to the finish. Only certain sections are marked, and elsewhere runners are responsible for their own navigation. Cut-offs apply at Ribblehead at 12:50 and the Hill Inn at 14:10.

Minimum experience qualifications apply, and entrants must carry a compass, a map of the full route, a whistle, full waterproof cover, a hat, gloves and emergency food, which is checked before registration. A relay runs on the same course for teams of six, with pairs on three legs of 19.4 km, 8.4 km and 11.2 km.

The race records are 2:46:03 by Andy Peace from 1996 and 3:09:19 by Victoria Wilkinson from 2017. Spectators can see the start and the finish on the field in Horton, where runners come in through private gardens opened only on race day.
