The Alpaca Race 32 km

Every lap is the same 10.6 km loop with about 620 m of climbing through Hisingsparken in Gothenburg. The loop got its name from the Gothenburg ultrarunner Erik Billerby, who thought it looked like an alpaca on the map. The organiser calls the course a little more technical than UTMB but mostly of normal difficulty, and the park is a maze of paths.

Three laps gives 1,860 m of climbing in 32 km, the same climb per kilometre as the full race. The fastest lap is just over an hour, and many runners need up to two. Every finisher gets a medal.

There is no aid station out on the loop. The depot is at the start and finish at Kvillestugan in Tuve, passed after every lap, with drinks and food. Mandatory kit is a hydration belt or vest, a fully charged phone, energy bars and gels, and a headlamp for running at night.

This page covers The Alpaca Race 32 km 2027. On Livebib, family and friends see the runner's position on the loop, the laps completed and a finish estimate that updates through the race. If the phone loses its signal, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated.
