Thirty years of marathon running by Tampere's lakes

Tampere Maraton is the city marathon of Tampere, run through the centre and along the city's waterways and organised by Tampereen Maratonklubi.

Tampere Maraton is organised by Tampereen Maratonklubi, which has run the event throughout its history. The 2027 race day is Sunday 5 September, and 2027 marks the event's 30th anniversary.

There are three main distances, the marathon of 42.2 km, the half marathon of 21.1 km and a 10 km. Alongside them are a minimarathon for the youngest members of the family and a marathon relay for teams of four. The route runs through the city centre and along the waterways that Tampere is built around.

The organiser describes the 10 km as a fast distance on a beautiful route, says the half marathon suits everyone who runs, and calls the marathon a challenge for everyone. In the relay a team of four shares the experience. The organiser has not yet published start times or the exact start area for 2027.

The route is clearly marked, and the organiser's traffic marshals look after participants' safety from start to finish. The minimarathon for the youngest combines the joy of success with charity, and the club runs the whole event under its motto, from runner to runner.
