The organiser describes the half marathon as a single 21.1 km loop whose first ten kilometres are the 10 km route, after which it runs through Hatanpää and Rantaperkiö to Eteläpuisto. In 2026 the two distances shared the way as far as the finish straight at Ratina stadium, where the 10 km ended and the half marathon went on to its own loop. The organiser calls its routes preliminary, since road works in Tampere can change them.

The half started at 13:00 alongside the 10 km, in a year when the organiser split the start into three groups because of growth. Parts of the half share city-centre streets such as Finlaysoninkatu and Kuninkaankatu with the shorter distances, so runners from different groups pass the same corners at very different points of their race. The participant guide sets a three-hour maximum and closes the finish at 16:00. The race is part of the Finnish Halfs series.

On a course that passes the finish once and keeps going, the people at the finish want to know when the runner is actually due.
