Trail running through Parc Ela in the Val Surses

The Swiss Irontrail sends trail runners over the passes of the Val Surses in Graubünden, inside Parc Ela, the largest nature park in Switzerland.

The Swiss Irontrail takes place on 14 and 15 August 2027 in the Val Surses, with Savognin and Bivio as start and finish villages. The landscape is one of steep peaks, wide valleys, glaciers and mountain lakes.

The T78 is 78.0 km with 4,996 m up and down, starting in Savognin at 04:00 on Saturday 14 August, with 21 hours to finish by 01:00. It goes through the Val d'Err and Alp Flix to the Fuorcla digl Leget, La Veduta, Leg Grevasalvas, Pass Lunghin, the Septimer Pass, Fuorcla Valletta and Stallerberg to Bivio, then back via Sur, Rona and Tinizong. Its high point is Uf da Flüe, the Forcellina, at 2,775 m, which the organiser calls the only mountain of the Swiss Irontrail.

The T55 starts with the T78 at 04:00 and covers 55.0 km with 4,199 m of climbing and 3,610 m of descent, finishing in Bivio after a maximum of 16 hours. The T22 is a 21.6 km loop from Bivio with 1,229 m, starting at 10:00, and the T20 is a 20.2 km loop from Savognin with 1,059 m, starting at 11:00. Both shorter routes are also open to hikers as H22 and H20.

The organiser describes the T22 as intensive trail running with forest sections, descents and a spectacular view from Alp Flix. The T20 runs through the Castelas and Bartg alpine pastures into the Val d'Err, then down through mountain forest via Rona back to Savognin, where the kids run also takes place.
