An alpine Ultra below the Kitzsteinhorn

Spartan Zell am See-Kaprun is an obstacle race weekend in Kaprun, Salzburg, from 10 to 12 September 2027, with an Ultra and a full Trifecta.

Saturday 11 September is the big day, with the Ultra, 50 km and 60 obstacles, and the Beast, 21 km and 30 obstacles. Sunday 12 September is the Super, 10 km and 25 obstacles, and the Sprint, 5 km and 20 obstacles, runs on both days. Friday 10 September is the kids race, and a 4 hour Hurricane Heat runs on Saturday.

The organiser calls the Ultra the toughest in the Alps: 50 km over several peaks with views of the Kitzsteinhorn glacier and more than 3000 m of climbing in total. The shorter races share the same alpine terrain, so even the Sprint is a mountain race.

Finishing the Sprint, Super and Beast earns the Trifecta Weekend medal. Bring your own foldable cup so the aid stations can refill it. The organiser publishes a course video with the height profile, all obstacles and the aid station positions.

Spartan's free Workout Tour sessions offer a 90 minute introduction for beginners. The event area is at the Baumbar car park in Kaprun.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry on the course. That dot is the person's own sharing, not the organiser's timing, and the official results are published by the organiser.
