Two road rides around lake Sommen

Sommen Runt is a recreational road cycling event around lake Sommen, based in Tranås on the border of Småland and Östergötland.

Sommen Runt is a cycling event where participants ride around Sommen, the lake in the border country between Småland and Östergötland, at their own pace. The organiser calls it a classic cycling event, and both routes are recreational rides approved by the Swedish Cycling Federation. The edition of 2027 is held on 29 May, with Tranås as its base.

There are two distances on the road. Sommen Runt is 144 km and takes the field all the way around the lake. Torpön Runt is 95 km and goes around Torpön instead. The organiser describes the ride as a lap of a beautiful lake, and publishes a map of the course on its website. Along the 144 km route there are 5 food and drink stations, and the organiser says 60 officials are involved in looking after the participants.

For family and friends, the day is about following someone around a long lap of the lake. The organiser publishes results and split times after the event, so people at home can see finishing times and times along the way. Registration for 2027 opens on 1 Dec, according to the organiser's home page.

A person riding either distance can choose to share their own live position on Livebib from the phone they carry, so the people following can see where they are on the course. This is not the organiser's timing. Official results come from the organiser.
