One loop of Nuuksio, or two

An autumn trail race from the Solvalla sports field into Nuuksio National Park, built on a single 9 km loop that the long distance runs twice.

Solvalla Trail was run on Sunday 4 October 2026 in Nuuksio, Espoo, organised by Esbo IF. Start and finish are on the athletics field of the Solvalla sports institute, and the race office, dressing rooms and toilets are in Solvalla Areena next to it. The 18 km started at 12:00 and the 9 km at 12:30, and the finish closes at 16:00 with a maximum of four hours on the course. The organiser describes the event as returning to the trail-running calendar.

Both distances run the same marked loop. In the organiser’s words it crosses the beautiful but in places demanding terrain of Nuuksio National Park, with narrow paths and height differences, and can be slippery and wet in autumn weather. Their route map shows about four fifths of it unpaved, out past the Maahisenkierros viewpoint. There is one aid station, at about 6.5 km, with water and sports drink. The 18 km runners come back through the finish line to start their second lap.

A loop that returns to the field is good for spectators: they see their runner at the start, at halfway on the 18 km, and at the finish. In between is national-park forest. A runner can share a link to their own Livebib broadcast, which opens in a browser with no account and no app, showing the position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes, marked as an estimate. If the phone loses signal in the forest, the dot is carried forward along the loop instead of freezing.
