Sheffield's half marathon with a hill climb

The Sheffield Half Marathon starts and finishes in Sheffield city centre and climbs towards the edge of the Peak District at Ringinglow.

The Sheffield Half Marathon is on Sunday 4 April 2027, organised by Run For All. The start is at 09:30 on Arundel Gate in the city centre, and the race is South Yorkshire's biggest event of its kind.

The route leaves the city centre and climbs to Ringinglow, with views of the Peak District from the top. It then comes back down into the city for the finish. This is not a flat course, and the organiser frames it as a triple test: a timed hill climb for the Peaks Challenge, a timed 10K downhill section that begins on Hathersage Road, and the overall race for the Sheffield Half Marathon title.

Entrants must be 17 or older on race day, and the organiser expects thousands of runners of all abilities on the day. Run For All offers help for anyone with specific requirements on the day.

The organiser expects plenty of cheers from the many spectators who come along, and several bars and cafes in the area of the event village welcome spectators and participants alike. A finisher medal is included, with an optional finisher t-shirt.
