A marathon morning that starts at La Moneda

The Itaú Maratón de Santiago brings the marathon, the half and a 10K to the streets of the Chilean capital on one Sunday morning in May.

The Itaú Maratón de Santiago takes place on Sunday 16 May 2027 in the centre of Santiago. The organiser, Prokart, offers three distances on the same morning: the marathon over 42.195 km, the half marathon over 21.098 km and the Corrida de Santiago over 10 km. All three are measured and certified by World Athletics and AIMS.

The race starts in front of the Palacio de La Moneda, the presidential palace, and runs on city streets closed to traffic. The finish areas for the 42K, 21K and 10K sit in different parts of the civic axis where the event is held, so it pays to check the finish of your own distance before race morning. Water is offered on the course at least every 5 km.

The time limits are 6 hours for the marathon, 3 hours for the half and 2 hours for the 10K. Entrants must be 18 for the two longer races and 16 for the 10K, with written permission from a parent or guardian. Kits are collected in person from 13 to 15 May at Estación Mapocho, and there is no pick up on race day or by a third party.

With a six hour limit and a city centre setting, the marathon suits first timers as well as people chasing a personal best, while the 10K is the easy way into the day. Supporters do best to be near La Moneda for the start and then move to the finish area of the distance their participant runs, since the three finishes are not in the same place.
