100 km on the Ridgeway to Avebury

Race to the Stones follows the Ridgeway, Britain's oldest road, for 100 km from Lewknor to the standing stones at Avebury.

Race to the Stones takes place on 10 and 11 July 2027 and is part of the Threshold Trail Series. The Ridgeway has been used for about 5,000 years, and the race ends at the Avebury Standing Stones, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The 100km Non-Stop is the original and most popular option: 100 km with 1,350 m of climb from Lewknor to Avebury, with a cut-off of 30 hours or more. The 100km Over Two Days covers the same route in two halves, 50 km and 720 m on Saturday from Lewknor to the Lattin Down basecamp, then 50 km and 630 m on Sunday to Avebury, with camping, hot showers and a hot meal at the basecamp. The Thames Valley 50k is the Saturday half alone, crossing the Thames at halfway, and the Ridgeline 50k is the Sunday half from Lattin Down.

The trail crosses sweeping chalk downs and ancient forests past hillforts and other ancient sites, in a remarkably isolated and unspoilt corner of southern England. The single day 50 km options have a cut-off of 15 hours or more, so they suit walkers and first-time ultra runners as well as racers.

At the finish there are spectator zones with hot food and cold drink concessions, a live MC welcomes everyone across the line, and the organiser runs bookable shuttles and parking for the start and finish.

On Livebib you can follow a participant live if they choose to share the position of the phone they carry. It is the participant's own position, not the organiser's timing, and official results come from the organiser.
