Down the Champs-Élysées and along the Seine

One of the three largest marathons in Europe, run on a course that spends most of its second half beside the river.

The Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris starts on the Champs-Élysées, drops to the Place de la Concorde and runs east along the Rue de Rivoli to the Bois de Vincennes, then turns back along the Seine quays — through the tunnels where the crowd noise disappears and the GPS with it — past the Eiffel Tower and out through the Bois de Boulogne to the finish on the Avenue Foch. More than fifty thousand people finish it, which puts it alongside London and Berlin.

Starts are staggered by target time, so two runners who arrived at the Arc together can be half an hour apart on the clock.
