Easter Saturday on a city loop from the Maspernplatz

The Paderborner Osterlauf is held for the 79th time on Holy Saturday, 27 March 2027, and the organiser calls it the oldest road race in Germany.

Start and finish are at the Sportzentrum Maspernplatz, which is being renovated, and the first start is at 09:30. There are three distances: 5 km, the Hotel Vivendi 10 km and the Laufladen Endspurt half marathon.

The course is a loop through the city. The 10 km runs one lap and the half marathon two. It is mostly flat, with a short climb onto the Nordbrücke after about 1 km, which is worth knowing when planning the first kilometres. That makes it a sensible early season test for people preparing a spring marathon.

Places in the 10 km are limited to 5,000. In 2026, 15,070 people started across all races, a new participant record. The race is organised by the club SC Grün-Weiß 1920 Paderborn.

The organiser speaks of tens of thousands of spectators along the course every year, and the half marathon field passes the start and finish area at the Maspernplatz after its first lap.
