From the Challengers to the main tour
A women’s race first held in 1988 takes its step up: thirty kilometres of classic skiing from Oxberg to Mora, now with the full professional field.
Oxberg-Mora Sprint Women starts at 09:00 CET on Saturday 27 February 2027 in Oxberg and finishes in Mora, 30 kilometres later, in classic technique and from a mass start. Ski Classics calls it a short, flat course on the iconic route from Oxberg to Mora. The race was first held in 1988, and Ski Classics describes it as the world’s biggest ski race exclusively for women. It has been part of the Challengers series since 2019 and now moves up to the Ski Classics World Championship.
In Season XVIII it is Event 10 and the second Sprint event of the winter, with both Champion and Sprint Competition points awarded at the finish. The last winner listed by Ski Classics is Johanna Hagström, in 1:26:11.0. The men race the same stretch the next morning, so the weekend in Oxberg and Mora settles a large part of the sprint standings. With a mass start on flat ground, the points are handed out where the race ends: on the finish line in Mora.
On Livebib a skier can share a link to her own broadcast, and family and friends open it in a browser, with no account and no app. They see her position on the course line from Oxberg, the distance covered and a finish estimate for Mora that updates as the race goes. If the phone loses its signal on the way, the position is carried forward along the track and marked as estimated instead of freezing. The skier decides who gets the link.
