Chalk cliffs, forest and the Baltic Sea

ÖTILLÖ Swimrun Rügen crosses the southeast of Germany's largest island on Saturday 22 May 2027, with the World Series running from Putbus to the pier in Binz.

The Rügen course links the seaside resorts of Binz, Sellin, Baabe and Göhren with the Mönchgut peninsula, past chalk cliffs, forests, sandy beaches and open Baltic coastline, and over the rolling hills of Mönchgut. The World Series runs from Putbus through Lauterbach, around the Reddevitz peninsula and the Selliner See, and then through the Granitz forest to the pier in Binz.

The World Series starts in Putbus at 09:00 and finishes at the pier in Binz after 46.04 km, with 5.47 km of swimming and 40.57 km of running over 8 swims and 9 runs, and about 467 m of climbing. The Sprint starts at 10:00 and covers 20.34 km with 2.5 km in the water and 399 m of climbing. The Experience starts at 11:30 and is 7.01 km with 1.02 km of swimming and 216 m of climbing.

Late May on Rügen means an air temperature of around 16 °C and water of 12 to 14 °C, and wind, rain or an unseasonable cold spell are possible. ÖTILLÖ warns that the World Series will challenge you more than you think, while the Experience is meant for anyone who wants to try swimrun, including people completely new to the sport. Energy and liquid stations are placed along the courses.

The courses are easy to follow by bike or on foot, and the whole World Series course is accessible to spectators, friends and families. ÖTILLÖ streams the World Series live. Athletes staying in Sellin, Baabe, Göhren or Mönchgut ride the buses free on race day with their Guest Card. Help to teams is not allowed except in a medical emergency.
