A road ride around Orust from Svanesund

Orust Runt is a recreational road ride around the island of Orust on the Bohuslän coast, starting and finishing at Svanhallen in Svanesund.

The 2027 ride is on Sunday 13 June and is organised by the cycling section of Svanesunds GIF. The classic 80 km loop circles the whole island on winding country roads, passing Slussen, Kungsviken, Ellös, Sweden's first road tunnel at Nösund, Råssö, Varekil and back to Svanesund.

The 110 km route adds an extra turn around Grindsbyvattnet via Henån, Torps kyrka, Vräland and Prästtorp before joining the 80 km loop. The 40 km route follows the classic start but turns south after Slussen along the quiet eastern side of Grindsbyvattnet. A 20 km family loop runs via Allmag and Myckleby. The 80 and 110 km routes have depots at the viewpoint on road 160 and at Nösund.

Starts for 80 and 110 km run from 09:00 to 11:00, and for 20 and 40 km from 10:00 to 11:00, in groups of 20 to 30 riders three minutes apart. Timing is by chip. No roads are closed, so traffic rules apply throughout, including the stop signs at Gåre and Varekil. Helmets are compulsory and no licence is needed. Everyone who finishes gets a plaque, and riders on 40, 80 and 110 km get a meal afterwards.

Registration opens on 23 November. Start and finish share the same spot at Svanhallen, where start numbers can be collected from 07:30 on race morning. Late entry stays open online until the last group has started, and is also possible on site.
