The Vasaloppet track at your own pace

Öppet Spår lets people ski the Vasaloppet course to Mora at their own pace, with 90 km classic on Sunday 28 February and 90, 45 or 30 km free technique on Monday 1 March 2027.

Vasaloppet first organised Öppet Spår in 1979. It is for those who want to ski the whole classic course from Sälen to Mora and compete only against themselves, a recreational event where your time starts when you cross the start line. It also counts as a seeding race for Vasaloppet.

On Sunday 28 February the 90 km goes from Berga by in Sälen to the historic finish gate in Mora, in classic technique only. The start pens open at 06:00, the first start is at 06:50 and the recreational groups leave every ten minutes from 07:00 to 08:00. The Sunday race takes at most 10,000 skiers aged 17 and over. On Monday 1 March the 90 km is free technique from Berga by, with starts from 07:00, while the 45 km and 30 km start in Oxberg in free technique with an open start between 08:00 and 08:20. The 45 km first loops around Lake Oxbergssjön before joining the Vasaloppet track.

On the 90 km there are cut off times at the checkpoints: Smågan 10:30, Mångsbodarna 12:15, Risberg 13:45, Evertsberg 15:00, Oxberg 16:30, Hökberg 17:40 and Eldris 19:00, which gives about 12 hours. Skiers who miss one must stop and are taken to Mora by bus. The 45 km passes the checkpoints at Oxberg, Hökberg and Eldris, and the 30 km those at Hökberg and Eldris. On Sunday you leave your bag with a change of clothes at the right truck in Berga by, and it is carried to the finish.

In Mora the finishing straight is 340 m long, and when skiers catch sight of the church tower they know the finish is near. The organiser recommends that all participants take the official Vasaloppet buses to the start and back from the finish.
