A flat marathon on asphalt in northern Öland

Ölands Marathon is a road marathon that starts and finishes on the square in Löttorp, on the island of Öland.

Ölands Marathon is a road marathon organised by Högby IF in Löttorp on northern Öland. The organiser describes it as an easy-running, flat course with the island of Blå Jungfrun in view. The race also serves as the Öland championship, and everyone who finishes receives a fossil set in Öland limestone, marked with the year.

Start and finish are on the square in Löttorp. The course begins with a short loop inside Löttorp and then continues on a longer loop out via Alvedsjö, Kalmarsund and Gudesjö and back to Löttorp. These two loops are run alternately until the full marathon distance is reached. The organiser calls the course very flat, the surface is entirely asphalt, and the course has been measured by an official course measurer. There are three drink stations per lap, serving sports drink, cola and water.

There is one distance, the full marathon of 42.2 km, with classes for women and men in senior and veteran age groups. The race is on 7 August 2027 and starts at 14:00. Race numbers can be collected at the start and finish area from 12:00.

Friends and family can wait on the square in Löttorp, where the course starts, finishes and returns between loops. A person taking part can choose to share their own live position on Livebib from the phone they carry, so people at home can follow along. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from Högby IF.
