Five kilometres is short enough that the whole course fits in a few lines. Kanalveien is closed to traffic for the start. After about 200 metres the runners pass the stadium’s parking entrance, after about 900 the roundabout by Rema 1000, and from there a footpath with large fixed stone blocks along its left edge. Before the four-kilometre mark they are back at the parking entrance, and the last stretch leads into the stadium for the finish, where water and sports drink are waiting.

The 5 km has a place in Norwegian road running: the organiser notes that the first Norwegian road-running championship was part of Norgesløpet in 2024, and the 2027 edition is set to host the national 5 km championship.
