Helsinki by night from Senate Square

Midnight Run Helsinki is an evening road race through the centre of Helsinki, starting and finishing at Senate Square.

Midnight Run Helsinki turns the centre of the capital into a late evening running festival. The 2027 edition is on Saturday 4 September, with start and finish at Senate Square.

There are two distances. The 10 km has its first start at 21:00 and its last at 21:40, with participants sent off in groups. The 5.3 km follows later, with the first start at 22:15 and the last at 22:31. Runners should be at the venue at least 20 minutes before their own start. The 5 km route crosses the Hakaniemi bridge, and there is a 45 minute maximum time on that distance.

The organiser calls it Finland's most fun race. There is a Masquerade class on both distances for those who want to run in costume, and the Runners Corner at Senate Square opens at 19:30. Companies can also take part together, and the organiser suggests inviting colleagues and customers, starting a running group and mingling before or after the race.

The entry includes a Björn Borg t-shirt in this year's colour and print, timing, water along the course, and a Vitamin Well, an energy bar and fruit after the finish.
