The course is 25.9 kilometres with 1,012 metres of ascent, and the organiser calls it fast and runnable overall. Runners go through Taiping Lake Garden into Burmese Pool, leave Speedy Hill for the Sasanakkha Buddhist Sanctuary with a first view of Taiping and the Straits of Melaka, and cross the river at Tiger Temple (AS1) on cemented platforms before climbing toward AS2 at Peak 300.

From Peak 300 the route enters the forest reserves around Burmese Pool through a water catchment area that the organiser says is open only on race weekend. The way home passes the war cemetery, the foot of Maxwell Hill, the Lake Garden, Taiping Prison and Taiping New Club. The organiser expects the first finisher after about two and a half hours; nine hours leaves time for anyone who walks the climbs. It is a good introduction to the terrain of the longer races without their night start.
