MIUT Legend 110 km
A hundred and ten kilometres with 7,200 metres of ascent, run from one coast of the island to the other. The first hours climb straight out of the sea into the Laurissilva, the UNESCO laurel forest that covers the north of Madeira, and the middle of the race crosses the island’s highest ground: Pico Ruivo at 1,862 metres and the exposed ridge to Pico do Areeiro, where the wind decides how fast anybody moves. The last third is a long descent on stone steps to the Fórum Machico.
The limit is 32 hours, so the field runs a full night, a full day and, for many, the beginning of a second night. On Livebib the course is drawn as it really is with the runner on it, the aid stations and drop-bag points marked in order, and an arrival estimate for Machico that keeps moving while the ridge does its work.
