Three races across Macao's peninsula, bridges and Cotai

The Macao International Marathon is held on the first Sunday of December, and the 2026 edition runs on 6 December from Taipa.

The 2026 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon is on Sunday 6 December 2026. Race day is centred on the Olympic Sport Centre Stadium in Taipa, where the doors open at 5 AM. The marathon and the half marathon both start at 6 AM and the Mini Marathon follows at 6.20 AM. The race is organised by the Culture and Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Galaxy Entertainment Group and the General Association of Athletics of Macau.

The marathon is 42.195 km with a 6 hour time limit, the half marathon is 21.0975 km with 3 hours, and the Mini Marathon is about 5 km with 1 hour and 15 minutes. Checkpoints on the longer courses are enforced, and the course closes behind the limit. Quotas are 2,000 places in the marathon and 5,000 each in the half and the Mini Marathon, and all races were full for this edition.

The organiser describes courses that pass buildings typical of Macao and cross the sea bridges. A drinks station sits within the first 5 km, then water, sports drinks or sponges are on offer every 2.5 km, with kilometre boards along the way. Bib and chip collection runs from 2 to 5 December at Broadway Macau.

The event goes back to 1981, when more than 400 people ran through Macao, Taipa and Coloane, and AIMS approved the course in 1990. It suits anyone from people trying their first 5 km to marathoners, since the closed courses give safe racing conditions. Spectators should head for the Olympic Sport Centre Stadium in Taipa, where race day is based and the award ceremonies are held.
