Longford Marathon, live.

Four races from Main Street in Longford

The Abbott Longford Marathon is a road running day in Longford town with an ultra marathon, a marathon, a half marathon and the Streets of Longford 5K.

The 27th running is on Sunday 29 August 2027, and entries for all four races are open. Races start and finish on Main Street near the Longford Arms Hotel, which is race headquarters for number collection on Saturday afternoon and from 6am on Sunday.

On the organiser's race weekend schedule, ultra runners and marathon walkers start at 7.00am, wheelchair participants at 8.45am and marathon and half marathon runners at 9.00am, with the 5K a few minutes later. The ultra course is 63.42 km, and a marathon relay is run in four stages.

The half marathon is a flat single lap that leaves town on the N5 Strokestown Road and returns through quiet rural roads via the Battery Road. Drinks stations come about every 3 miles on the half, full and ultra, with energy drinks later on. The marathon has pacers from 3:00 to 4:15 and the half from 1:30 to 2:15, and every race is chip timed.

Longford Marathon is a long time member of AIMS, and Boston Marathon has historically accepted its results for qualification, though the organiser advises checking with Boston. Ultra runners can have nutrition packs dropped at a chosen mile marker, and every finisher in every race gets a medal.

If a participant chooses to share the position of the phone they carry, you can follow them live on Livebib. The dot on the map comes from their own phone, not from the organiser's timing, and the official results are the organiser's.
