Autumn road racing through the Slovenian capital

The NLB Ljubljana Marathon is an October road race weekend in the centre of Ljubljana, with the start on Slovenska cesta and the finish on Kongresni trg.

The 31st edition is on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 October 2027. The first one was run on 27 October 1996 with 673 participants, and 2026 marked the 30th. Registration is online only and closes on 15 September 2027, and the Tečem expo runs from 14 to 16 October.

The marathon starts on Sunday at 9:00 on Slovenska cesta and finishes on Kongresni trg after a flat course through the city centre and the districts around it, with about 159 m of ascent. There are 8 aid stations and 6 water stations, the limit is 6 hours, and anyone still out at the 20 km cut at 2:45 is moved into the half marathon results. Pacers run times from 3:00 to 5:00.

The half marathon starts at the same time and goes out through Rožna dolina and along Tržaška cesta, with about 71 m of ascent and 4 aid stations plus 2 water stations. On Saturday at 16:30 the 10 km heads north through Bežigrad and along Dunajska before coming back to Kongresni trg, and there is a 200 m run for children.

The flat course and the many aid stations make Ljubljana a calm first marathon and a fair place to chase a time. Spectators can stand along the centre and gather at Kongresni trg for the finish.
